NATIONAL POINT OF CONTACT DISSEMINATES THE ROLE OF RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS CONDUCT IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE COMPANIES

Lima, December 15, 2017.- In order to preserve and reinforce the favorable environment for investments in the country, the Director of ProInversión’s Investor Services Division, Cesar Martin Peñaranda, representing the National Contact Point, presented the Organisation for Economic Co- operation and Development (OECD) Guidelines related to the role of the responsible business conduct in public and private enterprises in the framework of the Forum “Meeting of Corporate Social Responsibility 2017”, organized by the National Fund for the Financing of the Public Sector Companies (FONAFE, for its acronym in Spanish).

During the Forum which were mainly attended by enterprises’ officers of the FONAFE and representatives of different public and private institutions it was mentioned that initiatives are required to be developed by the Government and the private sector.

“Thus, we consider that it is important to promote the implementation of OECD Guidelines for enterprises since they are a very useful tool for the responsible driving of businesses, considering that they may create a mutual trust basis between the enterprises and the locations where the activities are developed by leading the reinforcement of the investment climate, enhancing the contribution of multinational enterprises to the sustainable development, and creating a favorable perception of the business activity in the civil society”, Peñaranda added.

It should be noted that the participation of the National Contact Point in this event to promote the responsible business conduct with the FONAFE enterprises is added to the several activities carried out in 2017 to disseminate the OECD Guidelines and promote the responsible business conduct in Peru, including for example the following:

  • Participation in an event about reinforcing the good investment environment in Peru through the implementation of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, at the headquarters of the Economic Service of the Embassy of France on April 5, 2017, with the participation of representatives from 30 French companies, representatives of the Development Bank of France – AFD, representatives of the French Chamber of Commerce and representatives of the Embassy of France.
  • Discussion with public and private institutions on the importance of investments attraction that promote the responsible business conduct in the extractive sector carried on September 21, 2017 by the Embassy of Netherlands in Peru.
  • Investments Climate in Peru and Guidelines for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Enterprises, organized by the National Contact Point on October 26, 2017, in the city of Arequipa, with the participation of representatives of the Arequipa Chamber of Commerce and the Arequipa Regional Government.
