PERUVIAN NATIONAL CONTACT POINT (NCP) PARTICIPATES IN MEETINGS WITH NCPs AND NHRIs OF LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN AND IN VII REGIONAL FORUM ON BUSINESS AND HUMAN RIGHTS FOR LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN

Colombia, July 11 to 15, 2022.- The National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct of the OECD in Peru (NCP) participated in the meetings of the «Regional Event of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRI) and National Contact Points for Responsible Business Conduct of Latin America and the Caribbean)” and in the VII Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights for Latin America and the Caribbean took place in the cities of Cartagena and Bogotá.

The meeting of the NCPs of the region was focused on stocktaking of the activities carried out within the framework of the CERALC Project and the future of the Regional Network in the context of the new phase of the project, identifying opportunities and challenges.
In the same way, together with the NHRIs, the objective was to delve into the role of both institutions, their scope and potential as non-judicial mechanisms to facilitate access to spaces for dialogue, agreement and/or reparation, as appropriate, in cases of adverse impacts generated in the context of business activities.
With respect the VII Regional Forum, the objective was to discuss opportunities, challenges and practices to improve accountability with regard to business and human rights in the region among key stakeholders from different countries and sectors.
