WORKSHOP: OECD NATIONAL CONTACT POINT AND ITS ROLE WITH BUSINESS AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Lima, October 7, 2022.- The National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct of the OECD in Peru, located in PROINVERSIÓN, participated in the «Workshop: OECD National Contact Point and its role with Business and Human Rights» organized by the Civil Society Platform on Business and Human Rights.

Members of said platform participated in this workshop, including CooperAcción, RedMuqui, OXFAM, Perú Equidad, the National Human Rights Coordinator, Amnesty Peru, the Institute for the Legal Defense of the Environment and Sustainable Development, the Institute for International Unions, Labor Development Program, Association for Human Rights, among other organizations.

Alexander Salvador, a member of the National Contact Point (NCP) team, presented the first topic to the audience, which was linked to the functions of the OECD and the National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct, where he discussed the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Companies, The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Companies, as well as on the Specific Instances.

Subsequently, Lisbeth Loja, who is also part of the NCP team, explained the risk-based Due Diligence process that companies should carry out to identify, prevent, mitigate and explain how they address these real and potential negative impacts in their own activities, its supply chain and other business relationships.

Finally, they also commented on the process of accession of Peru to the OECD and the Peer Review (evaluation of peers) to which the Peruvian NCP will be submitted. The objective of the Peer Review entails a learning exercise that will culminate with recommendations for improvement to the NCP, this process will take place in Peru, from November 22 to 24.
